10-YEAR-OLD CHARLOTTESVILLE, N.C. (AP) A 10-month-old boy died after being hit by a car in a South Carolina suburb, according to police.
The boy was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead, the Charlotte Observer reports.
The child was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon at the hospital.
Police say the child was struck by a white car in Charlotte on Thursday.
The driver has been identified as 21-year old D.J. Williams, who was not wearing a seat belt.
Williams is facing felony charges.
Police did not release the name of the child or the vehicle.
They say they believe Williams has been impaired by alcohol.
A neighbor says the car is owned by Williams’ father, who is also a suspect.
The Observer reports Williams was booked on charges of reckless driving causing death, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The family was not home Sunday.
