An Ohio Republican lawmaker says he’s “in tears right today” after seeing a video of President Donald Trump’s tweet that called out the media for its “disgraceful reporting.”
State Rep. Mike Gonidakis, a Democrat from Toledo, sent an email to the Associated Press on Tuesday night after seeing the tweet, which said “the media is going to be called out for their lies and bias” after Trump criticized CNN.
Gonidakis sent an edited version of the tweet and then shared the edited video, which showed Trump saying he didn’t want to see reporters “sitting around waiting for the bad guys to come to me.”
Gonadakis told the AP he felt Trump was calling out the press for its bias and said he’s trying to keep his emotions in check.
“It was just disgusting,” Gonidkins said of Trump’s tweets.
“This is a president who was saying the media should be ashamed of themselves and it is so sad that someone in this office would want to say that.”
This is not who we are, but we have to keep this in perspective and remember that this is the American people who elected us.
“Goridakis is not the only Republican in Ohio to feel the wrath of the president.
A group of Ohio House Republicans sent a letter Tuesday to the governor to urge him to fire the state’s GOP chair, and the state GOP said it would hold a vote in a few days on whether to expel Gonidaks.
