The race for Memphis’ NBA title has tightened dramatically as the NBA’s best team has improved to a franchise-record 20-2.
The Grizzlies have now won eight of their last nine games, including a victory over the Utah Jazz on Saturday.
Memphis has been the most consistent team in the NBA, but they are also the worst on offense, averaging 109.6 points per game while shooting 36.7 percent.
The Grizzlies rank among the bottom 10 in the league in scoring defense, allowing an average of 96.3 points per contest.
The Memphis offense is averaging just 96.6 on 44.1 percent shooting.
The Jazz shot just 36.6 percent from the field and made just 13 of 21 shots from the free throw line.
They shot a season-low 16.3 percent from beyond the arc and have dropped five of six.
Jazz coach Quin Snyder said he was pleased with the way the Grizzlies shot in the second half of the game, despite having just eight players score in double figures.
“I thought they did a nice job of making plays on the glass,” Snyder said.
“They made some shots that they would have otherwise not made.”
The Grizzlies are on a 10-game winning streak and lead the league at 13-0.
